I-9 form

New employees and rehires to the University of Pittsburgh must complete the following necessary verifications after accepting an employment offer and bring supporting documents to the Office of Human Resources as soon as possible. Executive Order requires federal contractors that hold contracts with the federal government containing the FAR E-Verify clause to use the E-Verify system. Submitting Your I-9 Form

With respect to hiring, firing, recruitment or referral for a fee by employers with four or more employees, employers may not treat individuals differently because they are or are not U.S. citizens or work-authorized individuals. U.S. citizens, recent permanent residents, temporary residents, asylees and refugees are protected from citizenship status discrimination.

This form must be completed by you and your agency HR representative within 3 business days of your start date. Identify a remote employer representative to complete a Remote Section 2 Amendment.

I-9 form

E-Verify is a federal requirement that is separate, but related to the I-9 requirement. E-Verify requirements apply to faculty, staff, and temporaries that receive pay from a funding source that requires e-verification. Employees must provide documentation to their employers to show their identity and authorization to work. If you are a native or naturalized US citizen, check the first box. If you are a non-citizen national of the United States (see page 2 of Form I-9 instructions), check the second box.

This document is considered a List C document that demonstrates employment authorization in the United States and does not expire.
